Who We Are
Imagine Canada is a national registered charity with offices in Toronto, Calgary and Ottawa. Our cause is Canada’s charities and nonprofits. It is our mission to support and strengthen charities and nonprofits so they can, in turn, support the Canadians and communities they serve. We work on a variety of issues and challenges that face the sector, often in partnership, including funding, human resources, volunteerism, governance, sector accountability and better understanding of the sector through research. It is our role to be a strong voice to issues and challenges and bring them to the forefront of Canada’s key decision makers and influencers. Imagine Canada is also a forum and meeting place where the sector can come together to mobilize, share knowledge and best practices as well as plant the seeds of innovation. We also work to create a supporting environment to help charities and nonprofits with tools and resources to enable them to achieve their missions for stronger communities.

The Insurance and Liability Resource Centre for NonProfits is operated by Imagine Canada. Our funder is the Ontario Government (Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration) and workshop registration fees. We are a nonprofit and do NOT sell insurance. If you are a Canadian nonprofit or charity, we’re here to help you!
We offer a full line of webinars, workshops and the occasional conference, all geared to educate you on risk management. We help with a wide range of topics including:
- Employment practices
- Governance
- Volunteer risk
- Tansportation risk
- Child/Youth-serving risk
- Harassment/Violence
We can also show you how to take charge of your insurance program, teaching you what you need to know and supplying you with key questions to ask your insurance professional, ensuring you are getting the right coverage and best possible value.
Together, we’ll work with you to find and develop risk management strategies so you and your stakeholders (volunteers, board members, staff, funders, parents) can all sleep better at night, knowing you have protected your people and adequately covered your assets.
Our Services
- Risk Management & Governance Workshops for Nonprofits. We’ve now completed over 190 training events in over 50 Canadian towns and cities since October 2007. Although this has been primarily within Ontario, we have held workshops in 7 provinces and the N.W.T, with plans in 2011 to be in Manitoba and the Yukon.
- Webinar Training. You can participate in our online training sessions from anywhere with a telephone and Internet connection. Our most recent series ended in the summer, we had 20 English and 4 French sessions from areas as diverse as “Managing the Risk of Uncertain Funding” to “Child Protection Policies”. - Customized Workshops for Your Organization. We work with local, provincial and national nonprofit organizations to develop and deliver customized workshops in areas of governance and risk management, based on your requirements
